Wonderful Person #1: Sis. Jackie
Christmas came in early, coz I suddenly had the urge to be thankful for the people whom I feel so grateful to have met. One of the few lists I might start so that I can have a blog of a person I'm grateful for everyday this Christmas!!
Today, I might wanna start with a wonderful friend: Sister Jackie. I felt all sore and down when I got home today and really irritated at my own world because of my cowardliness to complain. (And I was claiming to be a valedictorian to it to Cheanne P this morning)! I really suck at that department. Because of that, majority of my prints were distorted or cut off (But that's another story) I didn't really wanna go to church but because of an obligation, and an over-religious dad and excited brother, I dragged my feet along.
Nope she's not a nun, and no she's not related to me. I just became acquainted to her when she and her hubby bought appliances from us. Before, I was impressed by her coz she makes really interesting testimonies about her life. I was awed and really wanted to know more about her but alas, my shyness always preempts my will so I stayed silent. If not for my brother's consistent urge to sit beside her (during church meets, becoz she usually sits at the back), I wouldn't have known her better. I was afraid that she'd grow bored with me coz I am a person of few words and she really has lots of interesting insights on the Bible and life, while I am a plain simple girl. Thank God, even if I thought I knew her, she never fails to amaze me with her testimonies. Testimonies about her life, about how a relative wouldn't want to do anything with her, and even abandoned her and her family, how she strove in her life, how she supported her siblings in school, how God helped her through it all and even upto now, how God helps her with her hubby and mother. And even then, when that relative became sick and had no one to turn to, she provided the means for the medication and forgave that person. Tonight however, she shared with us how God had been faithful to her and took care of her mom (because her mom had a cyst and her red blood cells were below normal = 60/120, plus, all her savings for herself would now go down the drain for her mom's operation and medication, of course she couldn't tell her hubby about it coz she didn't want to be a burden to him). After a really heart wrenching and troubled prayer, God moved her to call up a doctor whom she knew. Luckily, the doctor was still available (coz we all know that doctors are almost unavailable in the afternoons) and her mom was immediately scheduled for operation that same day. (She was petrified coz she didn't expect the procedure to go that fast, and where would she steal money for the operation?) She waited and waited fearfully (not only for her mom, but also for the bill to come out) for the doctor to give word on the doctor's fee but the doctor wouldn't say anything. Finally, when she asked the doctor's secretary for the bill, she was surprised coz there was no doctor's fee! And the entire procedure cost just as her final savings amounted to. Plus there was a 500 peso leftover enough for a taxi ride for her mom to go home. (Her mom was an out-patient) Thank God for that!
This testimony doesn't seem so interesting in text format (coz I'm not a really good story teller) but I guess its in the person. Once you get to meet her and really know her, It means a lot. And for that I'm thankful for. ^^
